Ethan's preschool class had their first field trip to the Country Mercantile. The boys love it when we go out there (if only for all the free samples of candy and fruit they get) and were really excited to go again and pick out their own pumpkins.
His preschool group started out at the Hay Maze, which was the perfect height for them. They loved running around and trying to escape the dead ends.
They were so proud that they made it through with several of Ethan's friends from his class. Austin loved being able to line up with the "big kids" when it was time to move on to the next activity.
Next they got to climb up and play on the Hay Bale Pyramid. Ethan scampered to the top pretty quickly but Austin took a little longer. His little short legs couldn't quite keep up.
He got stuck a few times and just looked for me to come save him.
He finally made it to the top and got to crawl through the tunnel with Ethan.
After that, our whole group took a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch and each of the kids got to choose their own pumpkin. Ethan and Austin were so excited to find pumpkins. They picked up about a dozen before deciding on the ones they wanted.
We waited on the tractor trailer while the rest of his class picked pumpkins and the boys showed off their choices.
My handsome boys!
We visited the small barn and animals after we picked our pumpkins. The boys loved it, although the smell was hard for me to handle. I made sure to stand back as the boys petted the sheep, cows, and goats and played with the bunny.
This sheep just stood there with its head through the bars and let all the kids pet him. It was so sweet! Austin even gave him a hug before we left.
The bunny was the most popular animal, even though it was the smallest. The boys fed it hay and got to feel its soft fur through the bars of the cage.
After the barn, we washed our hands and the whole class was served cookies and punch.
Ethan had so much fun visiting the Mercantile with his class and I got to meet and talk with a lot of his new little friends parents. It was certainly a fun outing and we'll definitely go back there again soon!
Ethan's on the top row, second from the left.
He's made so many fun new friends in his class!
