Happy 4th of July!

We spent our Independence Day up in Oakley and Midway this year with my family. We stayed at my sister's in Midway Tuesday night and drove up to the Oakley Independence Day Parade. Ethan's never been to a parade before and he loved it! I ended up taking a boatload of pictures so here it comes!

We parked along the parade route and set up our camp chairs and waited for the parade to start.  

 Dan found these awesome sunglasses with a handlebar mustache attached at Urban Outfitters last week. They were perfect for Oakley and the 4th of July! Dan got tons of comments from people actually in the parade about how much they liked his sunglasses! It was great!

Ethan didn't like it quite as much.

My family went to the Oakley parade and rodeo every year growing up and it's fun that I get to share that tradition with my kids!

The parade route had huge speakers along it playing fun country music and Ethan and his cousins had a blast dancing in the street. 

They waited anxiously for the parade to reach us. Ethan loved waving to everyone that went past and since we had tons of adorable kids, the floats and parade people threw lots of candy to our group. Ethan ended up with a ton of candy, which we all enjoyed. 

 He kept saying "Pretty horsey, Momma!" and waving frantically every time a Rodeo Queen rode past.

We ended our 4th with a BBQ at my sister's house and watched the Midway fireworks from her circle. Ethan and Blake played together in the sandbox, garage, picnic table and everywhere else. It was cute to watch them follow each other around.

Ethan wanted to ride Blake's tricycle so Dan helped him out. 

He didn't really get the whole pedaling with his feet thing but he sure had fun scooting around on it. 

I think a tricycle is somewhere in Ethan's future...

Ethan sat with Grandma Sue and Blake to watch the fireworks. I thought he'd fall asleep before they started but he surprised us by staying awake. He was so cute during the fireworks, every time they'd go off he'd say things like "Ooooh! Aaah! Wow! Boom! Nice!" and then bursting into giggles! It was so funny!

On Thursday, we spent the day at the cabin and went to the Oakley Rodeo.

 Austin's new thing is to make monkey faces at us. 

 Ethan watched a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with his cousins, Hayden and Halle, on Kevin's phone since it was too cold and rainy to ride the horses. 

We bundled the kids up since it was a little chilly on Thursday and was raining at the cabin most of the day but it ended up being pretty nice weather at the rodeo.  

The rodeo this year was awesome! The riders all did really good! The rodeo clown wasn't that funny but we definitely enjoyed all the events. Ethan loved watching the moo-cows and horseys try to buck the cowboys off and waving to the rodeo queens. He stayed awake through the whole thing and once again oohed and aahed during the fireworks.  It was a wonderful Independence Day!
