We escaped the Pasco heat and exchanged it for the Utah desert heat for the 4th of July. We were planning on the 4th-7th for our short trip but Dan was able to get some extra time off from work and we drove down a day early to surprise my family. The drive could have been worse, I suppose. Ethan still has carsickness on long trips and about 15 minutes after leaving Pasco he got sick. He did fine until about 45 minutes from my parents house and then got sick again. We were prepared for it to happen though so it wasn't too bad. Poor thing.
We stopped at my parents and surprised my Dad. He didn't think we were coming until the next night and loved the surprise. We went out to dinner together and then drove up to my sister's house in Midway. My brother-in-law Cody was in on our secret since Lisa, her kids, and my mom were all up at the cabin and were going to the Oakley parade on the morning of the 4th. So we stayed at Lisa's house and then met up with them at the parade to surprise them. We parked right next to them and when they walked back from the playground they found us sitting in their seats!
The cousins had lots of fun catching candy and being silly together.
Lisa and I got matching cowboy hats.
Austin got lots of love from Grandma Sue.
As you can see, Dan just LOVES parades.
We spent the rest of the 4th at Lisa and Cody's house doing fun activities and watching fireworks. The boys got tye-dye t-shirts and had a waterfight with the neighbors.
Austin didn't have quite as much fun as Ethan did.
We ate an awesome BBQ dinner with the Grandparents, Grandpa Foster, Cody's parents, and sibling and some of their friends. Austin LOVES watermelon.
We played Super-Austin on the grass. He loved that too.
Ethan had a lot of fun sitting with Grandpa.
He had fun with the sparklers.
Ethan had even more fun sneaking and drinking cans of Sprite with Blake. They were too cute just sitting there with their cans. They sure loved their Sprite.
More fireworks.
Dan enjoyed the fireworks too.
On the 5th, we drove up to the cabin and went horseback riding, riding around on the Gator, and playing on the porch. We tried to get a good cousins picture with Kevin's kids...
It wasn't easy but at least the are all looking in the same direction....sort of.
We headed out to the rodeo. Ethan sat with "Papa Foster" the whole time. I'm not sure how much of the rodeo my dad got to watch though...
Bareback bronc riding
Steer wrestling
Great vacation with the hubby!
