Utah, Football, and Marathons

Last month, Dan got really good tickets to the U of U football game through his Alumni football player friends so we made the drive down to Utah. It also happened to be the same weekend that my sister Lisa was running the Big Cottonwood Marathon. The trip down wasn't too bad. The DVD player, some packed sandwiches, and a new book made it go by fairly quickly.

We both got to spend some down time with friends and family. My mom and I went shopping, I got my hair cut and colored, Dan went to Summit Academy's football game (they're the high school he coached last year), we ate at Rock Creek on Friday night as a family to support Lisa running her marathon. Her friend Katie, flew down from Spokane to run it with her. On Saturday, we took Lisa's kids and met up with my grandparents at the end of the race so we could cheer for Lisa and Katie when they finished.
We made signs to hold up when they came down the finish line chute.
Katie's leg cramped up a few miles before the finish and Lisa ended up finishing on her own. Aubrey ran the last couple of miles with her. Katie was able to finish later after recovering for a bit. It was pretty cool of her to fly down and run 26.2 miles with Lisa!
She finished in about 5hr 23min. Take that brain cancer! She did awesome!
We spent the rest of the day relaxing and talking while she recovered from the long run. She was exhausted and had a pretty nasty looking blood blister on one foot but she said she can now check that off her bucket list.

That night Dan went to the football games with some friends. I stayed at my parents and spent time with my sister and family. The cousins had a blast running around together and getting into all kinds of mischief. All the cousins ended up dirty after playing outside so they took baths before going home. These two little boys had similar bruises. Ethan turfed it at the race so he had a big scrape in the middle of his forehead and Blake's was just under his hairline.
When the cousins left, Ethan spent his time with Grandpa Foster watching cartoons and playing games on his tablet.
Austin got lots of cuddles from Grandma.
Dan's work schedule was changed to four 12-hr shifts so we were able to stay an extra day. My Dad pulled out his little jeep and Ethan drove it around. He's still trying to figure out driving. He'd look one direction and the jeep would veer off another way.
Austin was a good co-driver. He only grabbed the wheel a few times.
Grandma and Grandpa helped him make sure he stayed on the sidewalk.
It was such a fun break before heading back to Pasco. We're glad we were able to be there for Lisa's marathon too! It was awesome to see her accomplish such a huge goal!
