Bear Lake

Last weekend, Dan and I were invited by some friends in our ward, Katie and Bennett Johnson, to go camping up at Bear Lake with Bennett's family. So right after work, we threw all our camp gear in the back of the truck and took off for the weekend. Bear Lake is only about 30-45 minutes away from Logan and we camped at Sunrise Campground, which is at the summit of Logan Canyon before you go down into the Bear Lake valley.

Bennett's family had 2 campgrounds for their family so instead of setting up the tent we decided to use our truck tent. When Dan bought his Nissan Titan, he also bought one of the additional features that came with it, a 2-person tent that fits into the bed of the truck. We've only ever set it up once before to see what it looked like and this was the first time we used it to actually camp. So we set that up since it was late when we got there and starting to get dark.

We sat around the campfire playing games and roasting marshmallows with Katie, Bennett, and Bennett's family until really late.

After breakfast in the morning, we packed camp and drove up to the North Beach, one of the two public beaches at Bear Lake. Once we set up our chairs and towels we spent the whole day, playing in the water, Katie and I laid out on their huge raft getting a tan (in my case, getting fried), wakeboarding, and playing poker on a big blanket on the beach.

Katie set up a game for everyone to pair up, get blindfolded and try to feed each other a snackpack pudding. Needless to say, Dan and I both ended up covered in pudding. We didn't have any blindfolds so everyone was using plastic bags. We looked ridiculous but it was a lot of fun!
We didn't go out on the boat for wakeboarding until about 5pm so it was a little choppy. Dan hadn't been wakeboarding in about 5 years and it had been about 2 years for me, however, we both got up and actually stayed up for longed then we have before.

And Dan...

We got a video of Dan finally getting up on the wakeboard!

Everytime we go up to Bear Lake, we love it even more! We had a great time with Katie and Bennett and were very grateful they invited us to come with them!
