Camping in Green Canyon

Dan and I were unable to go to my family reunion at the Reid Ranch this summer due to work so we decided to go camping in Green Canyon instead. Right after work on the 11th, we drove up to Green Canyon, which is about 30 minutes from our house and picked a camping spot. Even though we weren't able to make it to my family reunion, we did find a "Strange" Family Reunion.

When we drove up the canyon further, there was a huge group of tents, rusty trailers, and old RV's around a loop and it really was a strange "Strange" family reunion. Dan and I found the living reincarnation of the all the redneck camping songs--plus we thought the sign was funny.

We've never used a lot of our camping gear that we got for our wedding last year so this created the perfect opportunity to break out the lantern, flashlights, tent, and sleeping bags. Once we got to our camping spot, we set up our huge 8-person tent, Dan started the fire, and we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. It was really relaxing just to sit back in our camp chairs by the fire and enjoy nature. These are some pictures that Dan took of our campground before we left the next morning.
Here's our gigantic tent. It's really nice but it felt empty since there was so much room and it was just the two of us.
This was Dan's awesome fire.
We've decided to make it a goal to go camping at least twice a month for as long as the weather allows. We're lucky because Logan is so close to a lot of great campgrounds and recreation spots so it's easy to escape for the weekend and go camping.

I'm glad you guys got out that weekend and went camping. That's a noble goal to go camping twice a month. If you don't complete it, don't get discouraged, just taper it back to once a month, but keep going. Your next purchase needs to be dutch ovens so that when we go camping with you guys we can all bust out the dutch ovens and cook some fantastic meals.
