Ethan is 19 months old now and growing so fast into such a little toddler. He goes to nursery every week now, which he likes but still cries a little when I drop him off. The nursery leaders have told me that he calms right down once they distract him with books or toys. It's strange not to have him in Relief Society with me anymore. It's oddly quiet and I actually get to hear the lessons instead of chasing down cheerios, trying to find lost toy trucks, and keeping him out of the other ladies bags. It's a nice reprieve for another month!
He's teething again and this time it's all his back molars coming in. I can see/feel at least three or four molars back there just breaking through and his gums are swollen and red. Poor little guy! He's picky when it comes to eating right now since it hurts to chew. We eat a lot of soft foods right now and he loves using his own utensils at dinner and is getting pretty good at forks and spoons.
We have coloring time almost every day now since it's such a good outlet for him and good break time for me!
Ethan's a talker too! He's pretty chatty when he wants to be. He has no problem letting me know what he wants and his vocabulary is definitely extending. He says Momma, Daddy, Papa (Grandpa), Ga-ma, Up, Down, Out, Toys, Noise, Ball, Ba-da (bottle), Toast, Mi-eee (Mickey), Goo-ey (Goofy), Nanas (Bananas), I yuv you (I love you), Ni-Ni (Goodnight), and a whole slew of body parts and animal noises. His first answer to every question is "No" but if you ask him again he'll usually nod his head enthusiastically or smile really big and jabber away.
He's even starting to copy things that Dan and I say, such as "hoochie" since we watch the Bachelor and he hears us making fun of the girls on the show. We laughed really hard when he first said that and now Dan is trying to teach him "Hoochie-mama" but of course, he just looks at his real Momma and says it. Not funny, Dan! The only sign language he really picked up was "More" or putting his fingers to his mouth. Now anytime he wants more of anything (lunch, treats, games, toys, playtime with Daddy, etc.) he makes the "More" sign.
He sits down, bows his head and folds his arms for family prayers each day. He thinks "Amen" is synonymous with "Touchdown!" and throws his hands in the air and yells "Ta-Down!" at the end of each prayer...even in church. I blame Daddy!
He loves to read his book and do the motions if there are any. We spend a good portion of each day going through every book on his bookshelf just so he can turn the pages and listen to the story. We end up reading Goodnight Moon, I Love You Through and Through, and several Mickey Mouse books each day before bed or naptime.
He's so good-natured and happy. He really only whines or cries when he's tired or hungry. Ethan loves to scrunch up his nose when he's being mischievous or silly. He goes to bed at 7:30ish every night and doesn't make a sound until around 8am. He's always been a great sleeper and I'm really hoping that Little Brother will be the same way!
He's such a sweetheart and always gives me hugs and kisses before nap or bedtime and sometimes out of the blue, he'll just run up to me and hug my legs or kiss my cheek. He does similar things with Dan. He climbs on Dan's lap and puts his face right in front of Dan and tries to have a conversation with him and if Dan looks away, Ethan pulls his face back to his and keeps on talking, usually whispering or talking softly. He loves his Daddy so much! Wrestling with Daddy when Dan comes home from work is one of Ethan's favorite things to do everyday. Momma isn't much of a wrestler while 8 months pregnant so Daddy is his favorite rough-housing buddy!
He's such a blessing in our lives and everyday is a new adventure or surprise when he learns something new. I've even come to love finding the random toy truck in my pots and pans, or my hairbrush under the sink, and even the cans in the pantry all rearranged or in odd places around the house.
He's so much fun and I love being home with him everyday and watching him grow!
